So today we are revisiting Pingo Space, the knowledge and skill sharing app we introduced as it launched early this year, we are talking to Sophie, the founder of the company and some of the most popular teachers on the platform.

This time, they are sitting down with us for an interview as a well established tech company in Beijing that organizes large scale off-line events.

When we talked to Sophie in January she said "expat is anyone living abroad" it can be foreigners living in China but it can also be Chinese living abroad.

And the things that we can teach are not necessarily things that we are professionally qualified for by diploma.

It can be anything we are really good at and is new and exciting in the foreign country we live in.

When Pingo space started they had only a few teachers teaching mostly foreign languages.

Today, the platform offers over 500 different classes taught by 1000 expat teachers of various nationalities.

From cooking skills to dating skills you can find and expat on Pingo Space to teach you.

But Pingo Space has grown way beyond teaching and learning.

It is now about experiences.

Martha, one of the earliest members of the Pingo Space team has gone way beyond cooking classes since we first met, she's pushing the limits of what the platform can offer.

D: and she's doing it on a tricycle!!!

Other teachers on the platform stick to more conventional gigs such as language teaching, but they are now free to get very creative and a lot more personal with their students.

Abigail is sharing her knowledge as a photographer.

She meets her students in beautiful locations that can inspire amateur photographers.

The personal approach and the informal atmosphere of the class help the students open up and explore their creativity.

From the very beginning Sophie saw Pingo Space as a platform that will thrive in the actual world as it will in the virtual world.

Holding events that will showcase the teachers and experiences offered on the platform was an important element for her.

Ten months and dozens of events later, Pingo Space is no longer a platform, it’s a community.

For the students, the advantages of Pingo Space are obvious, learning a language with a native speaker, learning chess from a world champion, but for the teachers it seems like the reward goes way beyond money.

For the foreign teachers, Pingo Space experiences resulted in newly forged friendships and connections and helped develop a sense of belonging and a feeling of home away from home.

Now, Pingo Space is getting ready for what is going to be their biggest event so far, this is happening this coming Saturday October 15
